Tech-Air® Off-Road is an FIM-approved airbag system specifically designed to withstand the rigors of rally riding and provide unparalleled upper body protection. Developed and tested since 2017 in the harshest conditions of the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest off-road race, the Tech-Air® Off-Road system offers the most advanced active airbag technology for off-road riding. The Tech-Air® Off-Road system, with the active airbag inflated, offers complete CE Level 1 protection to the chest and back, plus coverage to the shoulders, neck, and collarbones in the event of an accident.
Built tough enough to tackle any terrain, the system comes preloaded with three riding modes: ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET, making it the perfect choice for all types of off-road and urban riding.
Premium materials combined with innovative design and honeycomb Nucleon Cell technology create a highly ventilated, lightweight, ergonomic, and durable passive protector.
Made from breathable stretch mesh for superior ventilation while keeping protection close to the rider's body, the protective garment is CE-certified as a Class C base layer.
The slim-fitting stretch fabric construction incorporates a floating, highly ventilated, and flexible thermoformed chest protector for an optimal riding experience.
Both the chest and back protectors feature new Nucleon CELL technology, which is lightweight, flexible, and highly ventilated for improved performance.
The protective jacket's passive chest protector is CE Level 2 certified, while the back, elbow, and shoulder protectors are CE Level 1 certified, providing additional impact protection in key areas. The elbow and shoulder protectors are replaceable.
Side zipper for a better fit and ease of use, allowing the jacket to offer full frontal chest protection.

- The world's first dedicated off-road airbag system, Tech-Air® Off-Road comes with 3 riding modes: ENDURO, RALLY, and STREET.
- The riding modes are easy to navigate while on the move via the LED display located on the front of the system, or via the Tech-Air® app.
- The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD system features dual charging capability, meaning that with two full gas inflators, the system provides two separate airbag deployments, as only one gas inflator will deploy to inflate the entire airbag system during a crash scenario.
- The quick-release cover opening allows for rapid user replacement of the gas inflator, only available in countries where individual gas inflator replacement is permitted by local regulations.
- A completely autonomous and independent system; three accelerometers (one triaxial accelerometer) and three gyroscopes (one triaxial gyroscope) are integrated into the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to provide optimal crash monitoring and active airbag protection in a variety of dynamic off-road driving scenarios. No external sensors are required for the system to operate.
- The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD system uses an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery, with a fully charged battery life of 30 hours and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours; charging the battery for approximately 1 hour will provide approximately 8 hours of driving time.
- The LED display features an integrated charging port for convenient and easy charging of the system; simply plug the USB-C cable into the charging port on the system's LED display and connect it to a power source.
- Ease of use; to turn on the Tech-Air® Off-Road system, simply unzip the system and it will automatically turn on and activate the airbag system. To deactivate the airbag, unzip the system and it will automatically turn off.
- A dedicated Ship Mode slide switch is located on the ECU, which, when turned on, effectively puts the system into sleep mode. Only accessible once the electronics box in the back protector is removed, the Ship Mode switch allows the battery to be disconnected from the system during transport or when the system will not be used for an extended period. The system is sold with shipping mode activated, ensuring its transport.

Construction:
- A robust internal shell houses the built-in CE-certified Nucleon CELL back protector, which accommodates the System ECU and gas inflators, allowing the Tech-Air® Off-Road System to be used with any Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® Ready jacket, or any properly fitting motorcycle jacket.
- The Tech-Air® Off-Road System ECU is protected with a seal within the vest to ensure performance in all weather conditions, and the vest and components are certified to operate between -10°C and 50°C.
- The ECU has been homologated according to ECE R10 04, ensuring the integrity and electromagnetic stability of the unit.
- Bluetooth connectivity to a Tech-Air® App means that the system’s operational status, battery status, and My Ride Trip recording can also be easily accessed on a mobile device.
How to care:
• Gas inflator replacement
Tech-Air® 7x Systems now offer the capability for users to easily replace empty gas inflators by following the instructions provided in the User Manual, included in the Gas Inflators Replacement Kit.
Autonomous replacement of gas inflators in compatible Tech-Air® Systems is permitted ONLY for users located in countries authorized for gas inflator handling and replacement. These countries include those that comply with European Standard EN 16263.
As of 2024, autonomous Gas Inflator Replacement is permitted in the following countries:
